It is situated in the geographical centre of BC at the junction of the NECHAKO and FRASER rivers, 784 km N of Vancouver by road.

Economy
Prince George has large railway yards and locomotive repair shops to service grain, coal and lumber trains to the coast. It is the divisional headquarters on the Tete Jaune Cache/Prince Rupert CNR line and the northern terminus for passenger service on the BC Ry, formerly the Pacific Great Eastern Ry (PGE). From 1952-58, it was the northern terminus for the PGE, until the line was extended to Dawson Creek, then Fort Nelson. The city is a major highway junction and the airport is served by Canadian Airlines International.
